Default Links will not display when previewing - 06-08-2008, 12:29 AM

I am in the process of building a new website, so unfortunately you can't view it, since the old one is still there. 2 out of 40 pages will not display the links on the page. Using Link Map, I have checked and double checked all the links and they are there. I email Web Easy support and they told me to clear my cache. Did it, and it didn't help. I also deleted the page and created it again and it still won't show the links. Any ideas????

Thanks,
Hope

Hi Hope,

How are you trying to view the links? Are you just editing the document then pressing F8 to view it? If so, did you look at the source code to see if the links were coded properly?

I just did a quick test on one of my pages that has not been published yet. When I view it in IE, the text does not look like a link until I move the mouse over it. I checked the source code and it is coded correctly so I suspect my problem is with the CSS. Maybe your problem is similar?

Thats not a problem with your CSS, its simply a setting, most likely due to a template you are using.

You can always upload your temporary site files to a temporary directory on your web server. This will allow you to actually view the site online to see how it works. Sometimes things don't work out right in the preview mode.

I uploaded what I have done into a temp file, but some of the links still don't work. www.hopecc.us/temp. The Men, Women and Children links on the home page are just a few that don't work. Thanks for any help you can give.

Well, your links simply don't appear to BE links. Check the link settings for them.

In web easy, each of the titles (Men, Women, Children, etc..)except Youth and Calendar are correctly linked to the correct page per the link map. I have been working with web easy for over a year now, and have never ran into this problem. I have changed the link to none and even deleted the word, and recreated it, and it still doesn't show to be linked.

Plain and simple, you have to be doing something wrong. Highlight each word, right-click on it and select LINK, check the settings. Are the words Plain Text or Rich Text. Are the words seperate objects or are they one big object with multiple words?

I noticed it seems you have built your project with the DYNAMIC option, any particular reason? Try building with HTML W/CSS.

This is my frustration...each of the words are separate objects, and when I right click on them and click Link, it shows it is linked to the correct page.

I have only used dynamic HTML in webeasy, is there anything different I need to know when building it in HMTL with CSS?

Build with HTML / CSS, Dynamic is a Funky way to do it, not reccomended. Lastly, put your stuff on the Internet so we can see, it's hard to visualize your problems.
