Default "Stop the Music" (audio off) button - 05-28-2008, 04:44 PM

Does anyone know of a way to let the viewer of a web page turn off an audio file that is set to play when the page is loaded? I'd like to add a "Stop The Music!" button to my pages, but can't find any info on how to do it.
Thanks

Default PLEASE do it the opposite way! - 09-02-2008, 09:38 AM

Please DON'T have the music on when a website loads!

It's quite rude, disrespectful to website visitors and when it happens late at night and wakes up the little kiddies, She Who Shall Not Be Awakened really gets irritated!

Think about it. You have no idea what my computer's volume is set to and at what level the music from the website will be played back at on my system.

A suggestion: have that pulsating button showing music is possible. Then if the visitor wants to turn it on, two things happen:
1. it's their choice to hear the music, it's not forced on them
2. they know where the button is so can quicly turn it off, if too loud

About #2, far too many times has a web site started spewing unwanted music and it seemed to take forever until I found the 5 point type telling me where to turn it off.

Just thought you might appreciate some feedback.
