Default How to add Image located on another website - 05-26-2008, 02:15 PM

I am setting up a site that sells pc stuff. In order for me to get a commission, I have to use the links that they generate. So they give me a link for an image that is located on their site, and a link for text. What is the best way to do this in WE7?

I am using a template that has an image in it already. I double clicked the image, entered Internet Web Page for the Link type, and then the URL. That seems to work ok. But when I try to change the "image" setting in the Inspector it only gives me 2 choices, File Browser and Select File Dialog. I can't figure out how to enter a url for the image location.

There is no easy way to accomplish this. Its one of my biggest problems with WE, unlike Frontpage it won't let you reference a remotely hosted image, at least not any easy way I have found.

All you do is get a 'Button' from Clipart, click on it, go to Custom Script', and entered the code from the Vendor and you pic will display/

Thanks David.
WebMonkey - Does the button image get overlaid with the new image?
Never mind, I'll try it and see what happens That's the best way to learn.
Thanks for the help.

It's called a 'place mat', you draw a box and do the same thing..all you see if your vendor imgage.

Hellllp.

Not having any luck. I pulled in a button from the Clipart folder. Went to the Custom Script. The Custom script has Source Code, Body Events, and Object Events. This isn't an Object event and the Source code puts code in the Head tags so those 2 are out.

The Body Event has a bunch of keywords to try. I tried the OnLoad but that didn't work. It ended up putting part of the link at the beginning of the Body tag, and the other part roughly where I wanted it to appear on the page. The links I am trying to use is: forget it. Can't post it.

The image I want does not show up, just the button does. I tried a whole bunch of things and I got the image to show up once, but it was clear at the top of the page instead of towards the bottom where the button is. I don't remember how I did it though

I think you are missing part of the code. I compared your code to a Banner Ad I have on one of my sites. Your Code looks similar, but is missing a few other lines of code that would display the image...that's all I can thing of ..

Thanks very much for looking. I will double check. But I thought the last line in the attachment was for the image. When I entered it into WE7, I simply cut & pasted the whole thing in as one line. Maybe I should break them up. I will still check first to make sure I am not missing anything tho.
I will save that for tomorrow.

Thanks again for your help!!
