Picture adjustment

When I first enter the program and go into the Image Studio the button that makes adjustment possible is useable. The second I click on any picture the adjustment button is unusable, and i can't adjust anything. Does anyone know why the adjustment button refuses to work on any picture I try? Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you referring to the button for Adjust located above the Preview window? That button doesn't seem to do anything even when it is active.
