ringtones say "format not supported"

I can successfully transfer my ringtones created in the motorola music studio to my motorola phone, but when I select the actual ringtone on my phone to hear it, it doesn't play and it says format not supported, although the format is in mp3.

1-What type of a phone do you have and what type of a computer ?
2- What version of Mobil Phonetools do you have ?

This can be found by opening PhoneTools and clicking, Menus, Help, About PhoneTools

3- Who is your phone service provider ?

4- How did you connect your phone to the PC ?

5-What type of a file is that and from where you get the file , and what is the size and frequency of the file ?

6- Can you play the file ursine windows media player or real player software ?

type of computer: pc
type of mobile phonetools: I believe 4.3.4.
service provider: rogers
how did I connect to my pc using usb cable
I got the files from a cd
size and frequency: 781 kb, frequency I don't know where to find this info.
and yes I can play the file using windows media player when the ringtone is saved on my computer

And does your phone support the type of the file ?

Can you try a file that you are sure your phone support it ?
