Lexmark X75/Receiving faxes when not at home . -

I've set up distintive ring with phone company.Must my fax be up to receive faxes?Do modems have alot to do with reception of faxes?I can only receive faxes with manual answer.I have faxtools 5.0 is their an update for the software?

There is an update to version 5.10 email me with a link of this topic to cmunoz@bvrpusa.com include the printer the program was included with.
The modem sends and recieves the fax transmision make sure the modem supports distictive ring.
