update problem

I purchased Mobile Phone Tools 3.17a. I tried to download an update. Now when ever I try to start the program I get a window that states:"LiveUpdate Message An update of your software is available on your computer. Do you want to install it now?" If I click OK, I get another window which states "LiveUpdate-InstallSHield Wizard Self-Registration Error Unable to decompress a file. An internal error occurred. Contact technical support." When I click the Finish button nothing happens and I cannot connect to my phone.
I'm running XP and it is up to date.
