Yes, I'm new to WE 7. Trying to place bookmarks in a text page to jump from index to appropriate place on page.
Can't get it done! Tried following help steps but.... It says: ************************************************** ** How do I link to a point part way down a page to avoid long scrolling? Use Link Dialog to link to Page Bookmarks. Steps to follow by advanced users are: Place the Text or image item(s) to link from (probably close to the top of the page). This may be a short list of subheadings or icons. Click on the first Text or image item you wish to jump to. Choose Link Dialog Select "Internet" tab and "Script" radio box I CAN'T FIND AN INTERNET TAB! I FIND INTERNET WEB PAGE!! AND I CAN'T FIND A RADIO BUTTON FOR SCRIPT! In the Script box, type NAME= and give your link a unique name, enclosed in quote marks, for example: NAME="referenceA" Click OK Click on the item you wish to jump from Choose Link Dialog Select "Document Navigation" tab and "Page" radio box I ALSO CAN'T FIND THIS! In the Page Title box, type the unique name you selected above. In this case, type exactly: referenceA Click OK Repeat the above process for other links on this page. Build and Preview your page. Test your links. Linking to a specific location on another page is similar to the process described above. After naming the target you can create a link to it from another page by using the "Link to WWW site" option. In the "Address" box, you need to enter something similar to the following: mysite_002.htm#referenceA SO, HOW DO I PUT A BOOKMARK IN TEXT TO LINK TO??? Thanks. Gregory |

inside the links dialog area there is a drop down list with all of those items.
select the text or image you want to link to or from then right click your mouse or go throught he menus to link once in that area (I wouldn't call it a tab) you will see all of these items. What you want to do is very simple once you get the right area. Patti |

Thanks for your response Patti,
I'm sure it must be simple....but maybe I just "can't see the trees for the forest" Here's what my dropdown choices are for "Modify Link" NONE FIRST PAGE PREVIOUS PAGE NEXT PAGE LAST PAGE PAGE BY NUMBER PAGE BY TITLE BOOKMARK INTERNET WEB PAGE FILE AUDIO FILE CUSTOM SCRIPT(java) When I choose bookmark, it tells me there are no bookmark identifiers on the page. How do I make selected text an identifier so I can bookmark to it? The help topic, told me to choose "internet Tab", (not internet web page), Click on the "Script" Radio Box???? (don't know what that is) then type NAME=etc.... Soooo I'm still lost Gregory |

Insert a text box
write inside: Hello press on the text box and go to inspector -> link choose bookmark on the drop menu. This is what you see : (example file attached) you need to write a "name" for that bookmarked spot in the second field. the one that says : "bookmark identifier of..." Write: "Link1" great, finished the first part... Now, Insert a new text box write inside: Link to Hello press on the text box and go to inspector -> link choose bookmark on the drop menu. This time write the "name" of that bookmarked spot in the first field. the one that says : "scroll page to..." write: "Link1" you're done. Thanks for the response,
seems the "text box" was the deciding factor. Was trying to work on different pieces of text in a large text box -- no go Once I put desired text in seperate text box...it worked! Thanks |

I am still not clear as to how bookmarks are inserted in a long text.
I have a long text box that scrolls. The top of the text would include an index of the topics included in this text (as links to the respective paragraphs). I understand that I can make links from those index entries at the top of the text box, but how do I insert the identifier of those bookmarks in the text further down the box. In Microsoft Word, it's fairly clear, but either the explanation is missing here on Web Easy Professional 8's help, or the explanations in this Forum do not give me the step by step clarify I need. I did not understand the explanations given earlier about creating an additional text box : the bookmars I want to define are within one same block of text. As is seen on many website in their long "terms and conditions", for example. Who can tell me how to do this? Thanks in advance! ![]() |

I have progressed by one step : understand now that I can place an identifier to be used as Bookmark by clicking at the start of the text to which the link should jump, gong to TOOLS and Custom Script Assistant, and typing the command NAME="[name of bookmark]"
If I do this, clicking on the link causes the whole page to scroll down to the bookmark. In my website, the text within which the bookmarks will be placed is a page which contains a Rich Text box with a scroll bar on the right-hand side (because the text is much longer than the display area on that page). What I would like when clicking on the link is for the text WITHIN THAT BOX to scroll down to the area identifed by the bookmark, rather than the whole page (with header, logo etc...) so scoll up and disappear from the screen's display. How is this achieved??? A zillion thanks for any help on this. |

Now very confused ! I thought I could add identifiers of bookmarks in a long text displayed in a scrolling text box by clidking at the start of the paragraph and adding Custom Script, but this does not seem to be he case as I can only add one set of Script instructions for the whole box, not for each paragraph.
So the mystery of how to build links that navigate directly to a point in a scroll box remains intact : how do I insert the identifiers to which the bookemark link must jump? Very frustrated here ........ ! But immensely grateful for any help. ![]() |
