I've seen some sites with a Copyright listed. Is this something I should include on the site I am preparing? It's for a non-profit organization and I don't think that anything I'm displaying is "proprietary" in any way but I thought I'd ask.
I have submitted this separately from the other post today for search purposes. I hope that is permissible.
Thanks ... Bob

Hi WebMonkey08,
I haven't published it yet. I'm still too nervous about not having things "right".
I've only been at this for a few weeks and I'm a real "newbie" at this stuff.
As soon as I publish the site I'll revisit this link and post the site.
Thanks for your post and for the other posts you've made. I've read almost all of the posts on this forum and the helpful links to give me some guidance.
As a result of reading your SEO tutorial I have made a lot of changes to my site to help with SEO.

As long as the content on your site is solely yours, you have every right to include a copyright at the bottom of your site. This helps in protecting your content.

It helps in a "I feel good about myself cause I told everyone not to steal my stuff" kinda way, buuuttttt, people will steal your stuff if they really want it, where there's a will there's a way!

Hi folks (attn. Webmonkey08)
I finally decided to publish the site this morning:
http://www.district130soflal-anon.org
The copyright issue is not something I feel I need to do since almost all of the content is not exclusive.
I have other forms to build (a mail contact form with a drop down box with 30-35 email addresses - for one) as I learn them and I'll add them later.
Thanks again for everyone's sincere support. You've all made this new task a lot easier for a newbie.
Best wishes, Bob

Your corporate site has a copyright statement/symbol ( http://www.al-anon.alateen.org/english.html ) most likey for the terms Al-Anon and AlAteen, if it were me, I'd place the same statement they have on their site on your site as well.

Thanks, David. I'll pass a request up "the food chain" to see what their legal department advises.
When I researched the legal requirement of Al-Anon it is permissable for "service arms' like our District to use the logos and certain content without a copyright notice but I see where you're coming from.
I had hoped to avoid the issue by linking everything of theirs to their site instead of repeating it on ours.
I appreciate your guidance .... Bob

I see absolutely no reason not to copyright every page of your site. You never know when not doing so may come back to bite you in the arse! It costs nothing, just as long as the text/icon are at the bottom of every page.
