Okay - this is hard to explain, but I will try my best...

I want to incorporate a map on which will have numbers that correspond with a list of neighborhoods with model homes. I want to be able to click on 1 of the numbers and see picture of the model home interiors. These pictures will be on a gallery page of the site but not in the same groupings.

So, I am thinking that I need to create files for each model and link to that file for each corresponding number.

I tried to link to a file and just choose a pic that I have in my pictures file ~ but this link did not work when I previewed the site.

Am I wrong about how to tackle this? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Select the item you want to make a link, then right click and select LINK. Select "internet web page" and insert the address of the item you want to link to.

I may not have explained myself correctly ~ I want to link to a group of pics that I will have in a file. I think of it as kind of adding a picture, except that the picture is shown through a link.

I tried putting a number 1 on the map and making it a link to a file, then chose the file ~but it didn't work. ???????

Any help is appreciated ~ this is the main part of the website that my client is requesting, I may not be able to crete the site for them without this map.

Thanks !!!!!!!!!!

I really think you'e over complicating this. If you want to link to a file, you put that file online somewhere, then simply link to it using "internet web address" as the link type.

What kind of file are you trying to link to?

I am trying to link to a .doc file with pics on it or a file with a few pics like the post before shows.

To have the pics online somewhere would mean another website, right?

Yes, that is what I am thinking ~ except we don't need to be able to click on the individual pics, just view them.

Was that done thru WebEasy, or with custom script?

Thanks ~

It's actually a small program called "Gallery Creator". If you don't want to view individual pictures sounds like you need a collage of pictures.

Depending on what photo editing program you are using, some allow you to make collages, then just save and upload to your server and then link to it from the number on your map. I'd save as the address so it will be easier to distinguish your links for the map.

Here's the link to the gallery program if you'd like to have it.

If you decide to maybe use the Gallery Creator I can send you the instructions on how to use it. Takes about 1/2 hour to create and get it up and running. No coding or anything like that required.

Suzie...I've done some extensive research on this...There is the Gallery stuff as mentioned above...or you can go with another type of javascript. It does require some coding...but not much. Reference this site and poke around through the Demo's as there are a tone of ways you can represent your pics. Also, you do not need to have a separate web page or doc of the pics if you don't have to as you can reference the image by it's URL if it's already on the web. Here's the link to that site: http://randomous.com/tools/floatbox/

I don't understand the problem here. You have a website right? Put the .doc file on your server, create a link to that file using "internet web address" under the link menu.

I would recommend using a PDF file rather than a doc file though, pdf if more universally accepted for web files.

Thanks to Everyone for your help ~ I think that I have it now...

I am going to create 'pages' on my site that each number on the map will link to and that will be the only way to see those pages. There will not be any other link to those pages, so they will kind of be 'hidden'.

Again ~ Thanks to Everyone, when I get this thing up & running I will post for all to see. I am still keeping my fingers crossed..

It takes alot of wine to build a website :D
