I worked on my website....did everything like normal. Then the next time I started WE6. I tried to access my information and this is the message I get:

"could not open file E://<name of my file> This type of file is not supported by Web Easy.

I recently updated everything on my site...and hadn't made a back up yet.

Two questions: (1) what is this error? I mean I can't get to my stuff in order to update my website (which I do two times a day)

(2) if this is permamnently lost, is there a way to get this information back from my hosting company?

Thanks in advance.

All your files are on your PC, when you search for them, choose the 3rd option that searchs entired computer not WE Folder ex: e:\

This sounds different than being unable to locate the job files. I think he has a bigger problem!

I always save it on my E drive, not on my computer. When I go to file open and the to my E drive, it is there like it always has been. Then I click on it and then open and then I get that God-awful message.

I then go look physically on my e drive and I can see the document and all of the supporting pages.

Real problem is that it opens everything EXCEPT this version that I need.

I have a feeling I am screwed. It opened up prior versions of my site. It just won't open this newest version.

Ok, I have determined that I am screwed.

Here is my question: my site is approx 27 pages that I apparently am going to have to redo each page page by page.

all of my pages look like this: http:// www.afsportsbets.com/absolutely_free_sports_bets_005.html

I only update 001 and 005 and a couple of other ones daily or weekly. Is there a way that I can just create a new page001 page005 and etc and update those only while I am rebuilding my site?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sure. Why not simply download those to pages from your host and use the IMPORT WEB SITE feature from the FILE menu. Give that a try. Do you have the WE .ALB file for your site? Maybe try sending it to one of us to see if we can open it?

WebM

Yes I get decent traffic and I am making money off of the site, so I have to keep it going daily or else I lose potential clients. Each day that goes by is a loss of $. Today is day 1. I appreciate any help. I am going to try David's idea and some other stuff. I'll update here. Don't want to overly trouble anyone...so I'll see what I can do first.

David,

Thanks for the information. I will try that. I'll let you guys know if I come up with anyway to salvage the information.

Thanks!
bill

Based upon David's suggestion, I am going to open FTP and download everything on my Hosting provider to my computer and then see what I can do with it.

I'll keep ya posted.

Well there is good news and bad news. I used FTP max and downloaded everyfile from my Godaddy hosting account. I then used WE 6 to import webpage as David suggested.

Good news is that the site is 75% in tact.

Bad news is that I have to go back and re-enter all of the scripts on all 27 pages.

Good news (again) is that I think I can do this one page at a time.

Thanks so much WebMonkey and David for your thoughts and suggestions!

Bill
