I bought Majic Jack, plugs into your PC, and you can call anywhere for free. It cost $50, and you re-new service for $20 after a year, I was using all my cell phone minutes on the phone with various Doofi'.. anyways , works great !

That sounds like it would be a good invesment to make for any web design service. Can you receive calls too? Or is it just to make calls?

I know skype is kind of like that, right? (I've never used it)

I have one. Love it too. Use it as my business line. Its worth the $20 a year just for the voicemail feature. I don't even have mine plugged in, i just use it to take messages for me.

Its just like a real phone with a couple exceptions. In order to use it you must have it plugged into your computer and your pc must be connected to the internet with a broadband connection, if you want to make or receive calls. If you're like me, you leave it disconnected and use it to simply take incoming calls right to voicemail, the system then emails me to let me know I have a message AND includes the voice message as a WAV file attachment.

If and when I actually have it plugged in, its tied to LINE 2 of a dual line cordless phone which works out real well. LINE 1 is my main house line and LINE 2 is the magicjack.

MJ is one of the best things for a student at college that has free access to the school internet from their dorms. Great for business people that travel with laptops and stay at hotels with free internet. All in all, its damn nifty little gadget :)
