View Full Version : How to Make Subwebs

I have an existing web site and a paid webmaster but am seeking to build and manage it myself.
Mine is different from many other sites, in that it is designed for three markets. Therefore, I have the index page for one market [(mydomain).info]; another page for the second market [(mydomain).info/loh]; and a third page for the third market [(mydomain).info/sda]. They also have pages in common.
There are also free-download articles on the site, plus some e-commerce e-books. (I don't expect any difficulty linking these and setting up the e-commerce.)
Other than this, I have no animation or fancy bells and whistles on the site. It’s just a place where customers can go to obtain my products.
I obtained the excellent WEP7 software, expecting it was versatile enough to allow the nuances described above. But I cannot find instructions in the manual to cover this.
1. Where are the needed instructions in the manual to make these subwebs, or
2. How do I do this?

I hoped you might know. (I believe there is something called "subwebs" in FrontPage, which I thought might be related to what I'm after.)
I want to be able to "segregate" my site visitors to facilitate marketing. Some materials will be of interest to one market--other materials to another market. My webmaster has set up my present site so I can advertise: www.(mydomain).info/loh. Visitors cannot get into any pages except those linked to www.(mydomain).info/loh. In this way I can shape my advertising to "loh." They cannot get into the index page or the "postcard" page, where they might find the content confusing. (Well, they can get into the index page, if they're really curious, but probably wouldn't.)
I want to set up my WEP7 site similarly, but how do I do it?
Presently I have large postcards which will be mailed Friday to a certain market. I want them to be able to login to www.(mydomain).info/loh--not my main page. My present site will accommodate this need, but not "attractively," as my WEP7 site will do (if I can get it finished.)

WE can not do this by itself. You will have to make SEPERATE documents for each SUB folder you have and then link all the sub folders together in your documents.
WE creates only a single document or package. What you are referring to would be THREE seperate WE documents or packages.

Can I save the pages I have already created in my one sub and re-name them ("save as"), maybe "MyWeb2" "MyWeb3." Then delete those pages out of my main "MyWeb"? Then link?

YES. Now when you upload to your server you'll have to manually create the subfolders and upload the pertinent info to each subfolder.
