View Full Version : Not getting WYSIWYG for '<<'

I have created text links in my webpage but when I publish the pages something entirely different shows up. For example,

1.
From webpage: http://www.thwanghk.com/wang_008.htm
"<-Back" link gets published as "<-back"

2.
From webpage: http://www.thwanghk.com/wang_011.htm
"<<Back" link gets published as "< "

Also, any places where I have " or ' in my text it gets published as square boxes (or sometimes it looks like black diamonds....it keeps changing everytime I re-publish). (eg. http://www.thwanghk.com/wang_002.htm)

Are these 3 problems related to the symbols I'm using? I tried erasing/redoing the text and even copied/edit the 'Next>>' since it was working properly....I even redid the page from scratch but nothing works.

Any feedback would be great! Thanks in advance!

As far as the links go, you're simply gonna have to check to make sure you have the correct text selected for the link, you most likely do not.

As for the OR looking like squares, I'd say try a different font. Something standard like Arial or Times Roman.

Have you tried deleting the existing link object box that says back and inserting a new one? I'm pretty sure that'll clear that up for both instances.

Its not a BACK button on the page, if you navigate the page it works fine using all the nav buttons and links, the page crashes and reverts to raw code when you use the back button on your BROWSER.

Hey disregard that reply, I confused two different threads!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the suggestions and sorry I couldn't be back sooner to check the forum.

1. I have tried deleting it and redoing the whole link but the same problems keep coming up
2. From testing around, I can only highlight the whole text box when placing a link on it. It seems WE doesn't allow me to highlight a particular section/text in a text box to connect to a link. So it isn't the problem selecting the proper text. Also, the entire word disappears when it is published. It only disappears when the textbox is linked...the word publishes with no problem if it is left alone as a text.

I tried testing different variations by publishing to a testing webpage and only '<' char gives this problem! Even when I start a new .alb

I guess I'll just insert an image button instead. =)

Hope you had a great weekend!

Thanks again!

You CAN select sections of text to make a link, but you have to be using RICH text. I'm curious about this problem, if you'd like you can email me your .alb file and I'd be happy to look at it. Its easier then trying to figure out here whats wrong. You can send it to me at david@djrwebdesign.com
