This is new.
All of a sudden I can't drag a picture from the file browser to the page. It justs beeps at me in that menacing "no way" sound. Closing and restarting didn't help. Rebooting didn't help.
Anyone run into this?
Edit: I have a clue. After the beep, at the very bottom I get the message "cannot locate.xxxx, blah blah.tpl
OK, Now I have to figure out what a tpl extension is and why does WE now think all these jpg files are now tpl files?

.tpl sounds like a TEMPLATE? Are you sure the file you are trying to drag in is an image file? Did you try it with known files that have worked before?

wish it was that easy David. Files are good, have the right extension and in the right location. All these years and this is the first time I ran into this behaviour.
Technically the program is correct. It's looking for something with a tpl extension which doesn't exist in these photo files.
Can't find anything in options that could have changed the extension.
Pretty well protected here. Can't find a virus.
I was actually working this morning with no issues and then it just went Kaplooey. Probably will reinstall.

Is your Page 'Locked'? Is everything 'Grouped' on the page? That could be it.

not locked or grouped.
I tested this for document corruption. Not the document. Does the same thing on a new blank page.
Tried with jpegs and gifs from other sources. No problem. Works as it should. Hmmmm
It boils down to something fouled up with the folder I keep all my stuff in. I figured no problem, I have a full backup from last night. Deleted the offending folder and copied in the back up. NO luck there so I don't know what took place when. Might have been days ago.
I have looked down the list of individual files looking for something out of place but nothing pops out.
Next: I am going to move a couple of the jpegs to another folder and see if they then work ok. IF yes then I need to make a new folder and move things back and forth.....I think.

Fixed it in a cleaner way than all the copy/paste I was thinking about. :D
1: In Windows Explorer I renamed the offending folder.
2: Opened a WE document and used advanced search to tell WE where the objects were located.
3: Inserted jpegs, etc without a problem. OK, problem 1/2 solved.
4: Closed document WITHOUT saving. You will see why in a minute.
5: Closed WE
6: Went back to Windows explorer and renamed the same folder back to the original name.
7: Opened a WE document. Because I didn't save it the last time it did not have to ask where the heck the files went.
8: Inserted the former malcontent pictures without problems.
By not saving the file after the first rename I stood a chance of not having to do a new search for the objects, thus I also did not have to do the same with every other document I created.
This has to be one of those weird windows things that just happens.
Either way, we now know how to fix it.
