Rollover Effects

I'm trying to do some rollover effects for the navigation in my website. I want to base it off something like this:

You'll notice that once you rollover the box for navigation, it and the text change colors. Is there any way I can accomplish this?

I've tried fooling around with the "styles" thing, changing the color of :hover: to what I want, but it doesn't seem to work. Suggestions?

On this website, I got free rollover button of the internet, and used WE Rollover thing to make them work:

There are a lot of ways you can do the same thing for you buttons. You can download a program for free buttons:

http://free-web-buttons.com/ (the one I use mostly)

Take a look at this site:

http://www.ca-inlandempire-alanon.org/

That is an example of the buttons I created with the free program. I didn't do rollover on that site, but you can make the buttons to do it.

Or you can use MS Paint or any other type of image editor program and make your own. I've done that, but it takes a lot longer.

When I tried to download the Free Web Buttons EXE my Zone Alarm Anti-Virus blocked it saying the EXE is infected with a virus.

I notified the website via their Contact form but it's only been a few minutes PLUS it's Labor Day today so most likely no one is there to fix the problem.

Since I first saw that Free Web Buttons was available on this website I thought it prudent to post this notice here.
