The publishing Assistant in my version Pro 7 of Web Easy (purchased at MicroCenter" has been bastardized: It allows only setting up web hosting WITH Web Easy and offers no "Connecting to remote host" menu at all. Both buttons, "Open a New Web site" and "Ieasysite for free" demand money. The connecting dialog to remote servers that is in the CD manual is nonexistent. In other words, it's a scam, a product sold as a design software which is really a cover for a web hosting company demanding $20 per month. As they say, if something is cheap and sounds untrue, it is. WebEasy is a total scam. It's back to the drawing board for me. I'll try to import these file into Front PAge, but betcha this won't work either.

I'd say you're probably doing something wrong before I'd jump to any conclusions of a scam. Heres an idea, why not just use a third party FTP program to upload your files instead.

Got to agree with Mr. Rosso. You might be overlooking and overthinking something. This is a first. What is your version number? It's listed under Help/about.
You will find that a lot of us use a a separate ftp program because the built in version has issues. There are some good free ones but I use 3dftp. Works well.
Just a thought. Take a look at the standalone version of the ftp and see if it's the same way.

Maybe this is it. I just took a look at mine. I haven't used the publish assistant since version 6.
Look in tools/options/publish html. Do you have the "use publish assistant" checked or do you have the second option checked which, unless you change it, brings up all the info for ieasysite by default?

I don't doubt that the program "pushes" ieasysite but I know for a fact it doesn't stop you from using other services, he has to be doing something wrong.

I'm having the same problem. My ISP is Phreego. My web host is Mister.
I am publishing to my present site, that I've had for ten years+/-, and I cannot distinguish if the software is asking me for information from my ISP or web host. What is:
Profile
Remote Access
Host Name
User Identifier
User Password
