Hello,

I received the ClassPhone Tools with my Dell Dimension 4550 about two years ago. I have just tried using the software recently. I was getting system errors with the software so I uninstalled and am attempting to re-install. During the standard install process I am getting an error.

That error is caused by Outlook 2003. The 4.16 version is not compatible with Outlook 2003. To install and use that version you will need to uninstall the Outlook 2003.
The only programs that we currently sell that are compatible with it are Classic Phonetools 6, Phonetools Expert and Faxtools Expert. You can purchase those on our website here. You can use promotion code tech97 to get a 15% discount off of either of those or on any software purchase from our website.

I have just purchased a D-LINK DFM-562IS modem which came with BVRP software. I get the same error message during install.

I have Outlook 2003, surely there is some patch available for software sold in Septemeber 2005 to allow it to work on a PC with Outlook 2003 installed?

Thanks for your help

Alistair

No, there is not a patch. The Classic Phonetools 6 that we sell on our website here will install with Outlook 2003 without a problem, but the version that comes with most modems is 4 or 5 years old. There is not a way to get it to install with Outlook 2003.

I am not sure what you mean. This forum is for the Classic Phonetools faxing program.

Your company should have the decency to provide the latest version of Classic Phone Tools to those who have gotten the older version (4 or 5) with their Dell Dimension computers. How do you expect anyone who has been using your product to ever invest in anything else with your brand on it if you can not take care of your customers!?

BVRP's poor management and marketing skills are very obvious!

Best of luck!
Amir

I am not sure what you mean. The newest version for the Dell computers is 4.23.

I am stunned that you will not support users with the Outlook problem. There is NO WAY I am going to give more money to a company that sticks it to your users this way. We paid for your non-working product via the modem manufacturer, you should have the decency to support us.

Dissappointed

OK, first of all, thanks for keeping this information on the forum - other manufacturers may not have wanted it published.

I recieved the software with an unbranded modem I bought at the local PC store . It was useful for me to be able to find out why the software wasn't installing.

I also understand that in money terms, it is probably not worth developing a patch for OEM software that is 5 years old, but this attitude would make me reluctant to buy a later version of the product. I would worry that I might get the same level of non support should it stop working with Outlook 97, or Vista, or any other mainstream program.

I have found a solution. I have a Philips fisio 825 and an old version of mobile phone tools, incompatible after installing office 2003. To make it work, after a lot of bad words, I put the PbkInstall.dll file of the demo version of classic phonetools while installing the software bundled with my mobile phone. I ask why bvrp didn't released this substitution as a patch.... Maybe to sell new software... :x

Sorry, I haven't been clear. I substituted the original file whith the new one in the installation directory before prompting the error 0x80040707. Now everything is workin fine! (Not thanks to BVRP)

Thank you for the comprehensive answer. I was able to install BVRP finally. Yours is the only site with the correct answer.
