Alt Tags..how do I add to images

I can't figure out how to add alt tags to my images. I'm guessing here but when I open the inspector, I look at "properties tab", I see the name of the image under the "image" category on the left...if I look down the list of attibutes, I see "html alt"... is that where I give the image it's alt text tag?
