I have a page on my site with all sorts of poop.

I have been studying SEO for almost a year now, I particpate in this SEO Forum also, some real hot shots there. SEO is a real big thing. Your website don't mean squat if no one can find it, unless you just have a page for just for a hobby. My site is 6 months old, I have a PR 0, but have good position with some key phrases. I work on my SEO almost everyday. Lastly, WE has some real good tools to improve SEO, for example putting Key Phrases on Image ALTS, and taking a H1 Keyword Phrase and sending it backwards behind an image so it shows up in the Source Code..yada .. yada

I have just started to look at this issue intensively myself, for obvious reasons. My initial readings seem to indicate that if you hide text / keywords and the like behind images some search engines will penalize you or even ban you. Am I interpreting things wrong? Is hiding things behind images a real issue or a non-issue? SEO is clearly important, and I don't want to inadvertently step on the engines' toes.

You are misunderstanding me. If you put white text on a white background, that's 'Black Hat' SEO, and you will get penalized for that. Now, what I was trying to explain is that technique to improve SEO is to have <H1> keyword phrases </H1> in your Source Code. There are several ways to do this, one way with WE is to make a phrase using Heading 1, and send it Backwards behind an Image, when you publish, you will see it in your Source Code as a <h1>... do you understand? What are you trying to Market ?

This site is not for increasing traffic or anything like that but it has some really great tools.

www.statcounter.com

the basic account is free. I really enjoy the information it provides like:
length of visit for each visitor
location of visitors
search engine words that led your vistor to the site
entry pages
exit pages
and tons tons more

Thanks, WebMonkey08, that points me in the right direction. I'll read up on your SEO section on your website (that looks promising) and get back to you when I digest that. Your SEO section is very handy - I'm glad people publish a topic like this and make it available. Keep up the good work.
