Is there a way to add my own background to the page instead of having to use colors or textures? Have some from a old webpage I would like to use. Thanks

just drag them onto the page.
unless you mean the background behind your page... that you put in the inspector >ctrl k
This is from David Rosso
Okay, here is how you do it... you have to use a gradient background file, such as the one they used here called FOND.PNG, if you like the one they used here, simply download the file for yourself by right clicking on the page and selecting "Save background as". Once you have the background graphic, add a statement to each page of your document in the HEAD ELEMENTS section that says... body background="fond.png" obviously changing the filename and extension to whatever file you are using. You will have to manually upload the graphic file to your server, WE will not preview it or recognize it in the head element, but once you build and export it to HTML on your harddrive somewhere you can click on your index.html file and see the finished product before you upload it, making sure you have your graphic file in the same folder as where you just exported your html to.
PS. The statement body background="fond.png" has to be put inside of < >, the forum kept crashing everytime I tried to post my reply with that statement inside the brackets.

Yes you can use any graphic file you want as a background, you simply must first... have the graphic file saved to your harddrive, second just select it as a texture file.
