Hello Everyone!
I am not able to get mp3's loaded as background sound to play in Firefox. They play well with IE .. not Mozilla.. what can I do so that they play on all browsers?

Cheers,
Dru

I am having the same problem. I notice no one answered. Do I have to convert the fsound files? What will I convert them too?

Unlike Internet Explorer, Mozilla browsers will only use a plugin to play the media content if the plugin lists that MIME type; otherwise, you will get a "missing plugin alert".

You can see the MIME types and file extensions that are handled by your installed plugins in the about:plugins list. Enter about:plugins in FF address bar. replace that stupid smilie face with a colon. So it should be about-colon-plugins with no dashes.

You can also check the MIME settings by going to Tools, Options, Content tab, File Types and click Manage.
I think the Quick Time plugin might play it but I'm not sure.

I have no idea what you just said. I am not sure what an FF address bar is. You want me to replace the smiley face that you wrote in this message?

All I want to do is be able to play sound on my page in Firefox. I am not asking for my page to exactly the same as in Explorer. I am sure there is someone in these Forums that will explain in "idiotspeak" for me to understand. See what you guys can do. You have all been helpful so far.

Lets try this.
FF is an abbreviation for FireFox.

An address bar is the space on top of a browser where you enter a url.

When I typed in my original reply, I typed in a colon. The forum code translated the colon to a smiley face. In "idiotspeak" language, I did not type the smiley in. How else can I tell you to replace the smiley face with a colon?

I noticed nobody else attempted to help, so I thought I would try. The answer to your problem is a technical one. It is very difficult to explain it in "idiotspeak". I would have to teach you about browsers, plug-ins, MIME types, file types, codecs etc etc.

Sorry for the confusion..

Thank you, I understand a little bit better. I am really surprised there is not more simple solution. Nobody else, did attempt to help, and your effort is quite appreciated. I still don't have sound on my page yet.
