When I get into the ftp max and view my files compared to whats on my web pages the sizes are different, however in my images folder the files are identical. I keep losing backgrounds borders images etc., I keep deleting and uploading with different results everytime.
Any help greatly appreaciated. Also I'm a new user should I return software now, I keep reading problem after problem..
Thanks

I would love to be able to help but unfortunately I am a newbie having problems myself.

I guess I will have to re-do all of my site agin with some other software.....I will certainly never recommend Webeasy to anybody, but I guess that doesn't bother them one bit.

I am so frustrated with the software, I followed EVERY single instruction and used the help menu extensively, but still cannot publish the site.

I sent messages to their tech support but no reply, I guess after looking around various forums I have come to the conclusion that maybe I should have chosen alternative software in the beginning.

Good luck with your problem, I think I will just count my losses and try something different.........I shouldn't have gone away from Frontpage, say what you like about it, it is real easy to use.

The fact that the software is buggy is well known,
But for what it can do, it is pretty good software..

You just have to understand how to bypass those problems
And your life will be much easier.

I for example never used the software publishing ability,
Didn't trust it from the beginning.
But it shouldn't stop you from publishing it in different much quicker ways.

when i made my site i had many tries and errors and as so published my site a dozen times a day. each time spend maybe 3 minutes.

To the point:

A) Export your site to a directory on your local drive first.

B) Zip all the files in the directory .

C) Upload the Zip file using 1 of these 2 ways :
1)An FTP program like CuteFTP (http://www.cuteftp.com/cuteftp/) or other clients.
2)Use your hosting company's Control Panel to upload that Zip file directly
to where you want your site to be.

D) Unzip your file - if you used a program like cuteftp you can unzip it using its feature, if you upload by your hosting company's Control Panel look for that feature inside the control panel.

I recommend using the control panel, it is super fast way to upload your site.

Thanks for advice, new to this, not trying to make a living building web sites
just trying to put up a temporary until having someone else do a professional site.

People Bad-Mouth this program left and right. It has quirks we all know this. But it also has a learning curve like any other program out there. If all of the self proclaimed “Newbies” would take time and ask us questions and/or read pre-existing posts, remember we are people who bought this program and have spent years with many different issues and versions, we will try to help the best that we can. I don’t get paid a dime for answering your questions, neither does anyone else on this forum, as far as I know, if someone is getting paid drop me a line so I can start getting in on the cut.

People who want to return the Program I say go for it, return it. Those who want to learn how to use it all you have to do is ask. This is not even a $100.00 program. What do people want to create AOL.com or Yahoo.com. Learn how to write HTML and create websites from scratch.

Another pet peeve is WebEasy has created a publisher, which I for one have used since 2002. I like it! I know it! People want to not use things that do work, that are built into WebEasy.

WebEasy was designed for a novice to jump on and create a simple looking functional website. If you look at the people sites that leave there links that is what you find. Those who buy this program and think that it includes a flash program and hyper super looking graphics that isn’t what this program is about.

Let me also say it takes me approximately 10 minutes to answer each one of these posts that I am leaving due to the fact that I am in Afghanistan and can only connect at 10Mbps. Do you really think I am going to be able to upload with that connection when I get dropped usually every 30 minutes? On my www.TheThomasRanch.com website I have 195 pages. That’s right that’s a ton of Information to try and upload.

Now on to your question about uploading I just answered this not too long ago, tonight. I will repost it here again.

Ok I am going to try to walk you thru building your website.

If you have more than one website this may help you.

Once you have WebEasy open and you have selected your website go to build website.
This will bring up your “Build Dynamic Website” box.
On the very top of this box should be where your website folder is located.

I.e.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Web Easy\Html
(This could be a little different with each person’s computer)

This is a default setting for WebEasy.
Go back into your WebEasy folder (the one located in your destination line).
Create a folder, named after your website, (Your Website Name).

Now go back to the “Build Dynamic Website” box.
Redirect it to your new folder.

I.e.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Web Easy\Your Website Name

While we are in the “Build Dynamic Website” box click on Advanced.

Here you will change all the Preset information.
Author
Internet search engine words
Internet search engine description

Fill this out with your info.

Now go to FILE and click on save.

This is the point to test it.

Go to “Build” and select all pages.

Double check your website is still working correctly.

After you checked your website and it works good, then you should go to the file C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Web Easy\Your Website Name and make sure it has your website information in it.

If everything has checked out from this point go ahead and build your website to publish.

Go to “Build” Website.
Click the Publish Now box.
The Output box should be checked with “All Pages.”
Click the folder with the magnifying glass and make sure it’s still pointed in the right folder.

If everything is still a go click OK.
You will get a Windows Warning box saying “The folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Web Easy\Your Website Name already contains the package” Your Website Name.
Do you want to overwrite the existing package?

Click Ok.

Once it builds it you will get another box, “Publishing Your Web Site To The Internet.”

It was stated that you were using Ieasysite.com and if this is your only site select:
Use Avanquest’s preferred Web Hosting service (recommended).

You’ll get another Windows box stating:
The Currently edited original web site document has been modified. It is strongly recommended to save the original document and build the web site before publishing on the Internet.
Do you wish to continue?

Click Yes.

Now the iEasySite Wizard box will come up. Click the Update an existing web site. Because you already have your web site with iEasySite.

[Here is a step that may solve one of your problems] Click on options… (Located bottom left).

Choose the Standard button. This will drop down your transfer to 50K of transfer. I have mine right now on Larger (100K) but when I get over to Afghanistan I will have to lower it to perhaps 25K. Click OK.

Click Next.

Make sure your website name is in the Web Site drop down menu. Click next if everything is ok and your password is correct.

Click Next.

Choose a Web Easy site to update.

Make sure your packet name is in here. Check it and click next.

Updating your web site box should be next. You have two options here.

Upload your entire web site or Upload only changes to your web site.

Because you can’t get it to load at all yet select Upload Your Entire Web Site.
After this choose Upload only Changes to your Web Site. This will speed the process up a ton.

Now Click Next.

This will start the uploading procedures.

Once this is done it will let you know.

I am assuming this is were you usually get your error code but perhaps downsizing your upload from 100K to 50 may have helped.

Let me know if it uploaded this time.

I hope this helps,
Russell

Your time and knowledge are greatly appreaciated.
Your instructions solved my problem.
Also I tried the way "supa" described this also worked.
I am not here to bash programs, just if you advertise simplicity and ease of use the consumer should get what they pay for not headaches.
again thank you

Technically, it is easy to use. Right out of the box using a premade template you could actually create a complete fully functional website in a matter of minutes. Of course "tweaking" it to the way you really want it, now thats a whole different story. But if you use the wizard you could really crank out a site using a template in a matter of minutes. Try that with Frontpage.
