View Full Version : centering web pages on screen & changing page size

I haven't uploaded my site yet but have been previewing it frequently on my hard drive. The site shows up at the left of my wide screen computer, so I'm assuming that when it IS uploaded, it will also be at the left of someone's screen.
How do I get the whole thing to show up in the center of the screen?
Also, I know how to change the page size for my whole site, but it seems I can only proportionally change the elements on the page for the first page. If I go to subsequent pages and select all then re-fit to the page, font sizes don't change, image sizes don't change, everything's just rearranged a bit differently on the now-bigger page size. Yet everything has proportionally changed on the first page.
Is there a way to change page size AND proportionally refit all items on every page of the site, at one time???
Thanks.

When you upload the site there is a small button to click....standpage or centering...click centering...

Thanks, I did find that after reading earlier posts.
Here's another related question -- is it possible to change the background color, NOT the actual page background, but the white background that the pages are displayed on top of. I'm currently using a page size that is less than the width of the screen.
Which gets me back to my original question, about changing page size and having all the elements on every page refit proportionally. Do you know the answer to that?

I've tried that, Lourdes, and it changes the background of my actual page, not the background BEHIND the page.

oh ok...you mean the like when you start a new design you get a blank white page...you want to make the white another color not the actual page right? Are you using a template...if so make sure the items are not locked. Also some templates if that is what you are using are Jpegs like the crimson one.
CtrlH or Tools/Styles then select page box, select edit button on top right, then modify, then double click the "background color" small square, choose color or after passing over color chart, then becomes an eye dropper to select a color from the image itself .... this may not work if the bacground is jpg image ... This procedure uses CSS. you can right click the page & unlock all, then work on deleting the JPG & using this system create your own CSS page ... not work on the index page doing this ... hope this helps
When you do this the color will take over the whole page...make sure you send it to the back.

Not quite...when I upload my site to a preview, on my screen, on the left and right of my web pages, like 2.5 inches on each side because I created web pages narrower than a wide screen computer, that space is white. Outside of the web page I designed. The pages I designed have a lot of graphics, photos and color blocks -- I'm talking about the space beyond the borders of the web pages I designed.

open the inspector under VIEW
on the top right hand side there is a icon select current page
STYLE >>>>click on page color....making sure background stays white...choose any color you like. Remember you will have to do this to all the pages. Good luck
under graident make sure that they are both white.

Doing what you suggested still isn't what I'm aiming at. Doing that removed a color box on the template and still didn't do anything to the screen background behind the page(s) when I previewed it.
Thanks, though.
If anyone else has any idea, please let me know.
Thanks,
Connie

The place to make the change I was after is in the Inspector, current page, style, then the "background color" tab about 2/3 of the way down the list. That's the background behind the page(s) and changing it worked when I went into preview mode.
Thanks for drawing me to the Inspector!
