Ok,

I have seen and helped a ton of people do a ton of things and thought I knew what I was doing.

But here is the issue. I found a video on Youtube.com

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWfIhFhelm8&NR=1

This is a political video for RonPaul2008 Campaign that I promised my brother I would place on my web site. I also really like it. Anyhow…

They offer an embedded code:

See attatchment. Won't let me post with it in here.

I tried to add this, using plain text, to my pages and all I get is the dreaded Quick-Time Question mark. Q?

So what steps did I do.

1. Tried adding in Plain text.
2. Tried adding Movie from multimedia\Flash which ends in .swf
3. Tried adding Objects - Advanced\Embedded\ Host Image
4. Tried linking a picture as an Embedded Object. By right clicking, link, internet, embedded object, http://www.youtube.com/v/IWfIhFhelm8&rel=0&color1=0xe1600f&color2=0xfebd01&border=1

So what gives.

So now I’m stumped. I have added my own movies from my own computer but I haven’t tried one of these embedded ones before now.

So to all of you, how the heck do I get this to work.

That's a good question.

And maybe this is a long shot, but if you could save that Youtube video to your computer, then perhaps you could upload it from there?

You can save youtube vids to your own machine. There are various ways to do this. And, of course, some people have posted about this on youtube:

I have created a simple box and insert your code
In the Inspector properties -> custom script
tried to run both Explorer and Firefox and on both got the youtube video as it should.

maybe the problem isn't at WE7...?

Sorry,

I am still using WE6.

I am not sure about storing that much data on my website. That is something that may take up too much bandwith if it were to become popular.

If it is hosted by YouTube and they are offering it up for being embedded I figured I could easily do that. But wouldn't you know it. I stumped myself.

I will keep working on it. I just figured maybe someone already worked this issue and had a quick...Oh that's simple answer for me.

If we can figure this out it would make WebEasy in general look a lot more Dynamic and interactive.

Thanks guys. I'll keep working on it. When I figure it out I'll post it here and tell you how to do it.

Supa,

Did you view it uploaded or in preview?

Perhaps that is what needs to happen. I may have to upload it to the net? I don't think this would make a difference, because once we build in preview it pulls everything it needs from the net.

But who knows. I am just getting a white box where the video is supposed to be.

Tonight after work I will upload it on the page on the net and see if it works.

It must be something in your browser settings..
did you try both explorer and firefox ?

I am not a FireFox user. I only tried it in IE.

it's important to check your sites using the most used browsers.
which include firefox as one..
you can also catch bugs like this using several browsers..

or you can upload it and ask others to check it for you...

Supa,

This week I have had over 3,000 visitors to my www.TheThomasRanch.com site. only 135 of them are using FireFox. I am not saying this is not going to increase, but I am currently and always do push for people to build for the masses of people who are coming to there site.

IE 1,159
FireFox 135
Unknown 118
Netscape 102
Safari 43
Gecko-based 14

Then the list goes on and on from there.

I have my screen size set to the mojority of web browsers and everything. I know that my Referrers go in order of Direct-Entry (Bookmark), then Google, then Yahoo, then Google UK, and so on...

When FireFox takes up a little more than what it is currently doing, when Cowboys Find the Internet. I will probably be a little more concerned about that.

I know FireFox being a freeware is going to catch on more and I have been debating downloading it, but I just haven't done it yet. When you look at one of my sites does it look different from the two versions and if it does how do you go about trying to change it to where they both look the same.

That is like looking at one of my sites on my computer, then looking at it on my daughters computer then on my wifes computer.

I run AlienWare, my daughter runs a brand new Compaq, my Wife runs and old Compaq.

Each one of these screen sizes are different. All of us run IE. But because of the screen resolution the site shows up a little different in each. Not much but a little. As a matter of fact my Mother-In-Law came over and she had another brand new computer, don't remember the name. Her computer is the new Wide-Screen. Wow talk about different. My site is not built centered. Which means it will always be from Left to Right. It left a blank spot to the right of my web site. No big deal unless a dramatic shift to the new Wide-Screens happens.

But to get to the point I think your right, instead of me asking others or going to two different computers, I should just download it. Then I won't have to ask others what it looks like. I should download the new IE while I'm at it. I guess I have some catching up to do. LOL.

LOL,

Ya my time has been tight lately.
I didn't say I wanted to be the only moderator.
What I was saying is something like deleting the Spam several people can do.
Such as YOU.

I guess there should be a way to earn it.

Anyhow I hope I come back in one piece too.

Heard that the Internet conection over there is super slow.

I hope that Ieasy and Avanaquest don't have blocks on for IP's over there.

I am leaving Monday and will be back in 15 months, but I will try to get on atleast once a week over there.

Thanks for your "undieing" concern. LOL

AaronT,

I was able to update my Cowboy Crew website each month with a new page talking about what we had done the month prior, from Baghdad Iraq.

We have a group we call the Desert Cowboys and I keep writing about our trip. I plan on doing the same thing.

But I will try to update you guys here and keep helping each other as often as I can..

Thanks for the Good Luck

did he have a choice on centering the pages? If so I haven't found the setting and my pages are stuck on the left.

I downloaded your doc copied it to notepad and inserted it using custom script to a test doc and it played fine even in preview on my computer
