How can I send my unpublished site via email - so my partner can review it - the site is still in the works and I don't want to spend any more time on it - if there will be some big changes that need to be made. Any suggestions? (my partner does not have the program on their computer, only I do)

Hello,

I upload the pages to a new directory on the server. For instance at buddy web works I have the site uploaded (It's an old one) and have the new home page uploaded into a directory called "newhome". I deleted all the links for that page while I work on it but can new get reviews on the copywriting and SEO techniques I am using.

After your partner views the page you can just delete the directory on the server and it is all gone - no harm done to your site.

Your partner can take a screen shot of it to keep handy so he can make notes as to the changes too.

I do this all the time with new clients. I sometimes upload as many as ten new layouts for clients to peruse - after they pick one, I simply delete them all. It doesn't hurt a thing!

First, I would like to Thank you for your Knowledge. I will see what I can come up with. I am a newbie with website design - just getting my toes wet - and am not fluent with computer lingo. If you have any "common" words to help me out - I would greatly appreciate it. One thing, will my partner have access to the program if i do it the way you mentioned? The obnly thing I want them to have access to is the website pages. Thanks again for all your help!

Hi Sandleman,

No - he will not have access to your program. He will only have access to the web page you send him to. Do not give him access to your control panel - he won't need that.

The place you would send him to would look something like this:

www.yoursite.com/index.html (http://www.yoursite.com/index.html) <---- this is your web site's url.
www.yoursite.com/partner/index.html (http://www.yoursite.com/partner/index.html) <----this is an example of the directory you would place the new site in and send him that url (address) to view the page.

You are most welcome.

Excellent description from VerbatimEB on how to accomplish this. One thing to add is you can leave off the index.htm as well, use something like webpage.htm. That way users who come to the url will be even less likely to find the site.

So you could even use

www.yoursite.com/testsite.html

by adding 'testsite.html' as the index page definition.

Good luck!
