Hello Groupies.

I have more than a dozen sites added to my google account but have verified none. I have the code for uploading html and the metatag name additions but do not know how to intigrate these into WEP.

I have been thinking on this for some time.

Anyone verified with google (webmaster tools)? Help please!

Eileen :)

Google verification using the html is easy, just paste the code into
windows notepad, save it to your desktop & upload it to your server using 'tools /transfer files & drag it across,

Thanks so much for your reply to this question Vic!

I created a file in notepad, saved it to my desktop and know how to transfer it in WEP. My new questions:

01.) Does this file need any content in the body of the file?

02.) Will the .html interfere with the index.html file, i.e. conflicts on the server end?

Thanks again for any help that might be forthcoming.

Eileen :)

I didn't explain it correctly, you actually name the file itself with the one they give you
i.e google11e5844324b7654e.html) , the file should be empty, its the file name that googlebot looks for, just upload it to your root folder it cannot conflict with anything as its not an index file,

Just wondered - have you created a google sitemap yet?

Hi Vic,

No - I have not had time to do all the verifications as yet. In fact, I am still having issues with the verification process. I don't exactly know why at this point.

I purchased an HP L7680 and will be installing it today. It seems as though each day there are things to do where time runs out and the verification of those web sites goes one more notch down on the "to do" list. It was at the top the other day. LOL.

You know? Once I get the verificaions done - sometime this week (keep your fingers crossed) I will address the next issue. Thanks so much. That and more google stuff is on the list...

We discuss SEO at my Yahoo (tiny) group and I seem to be the one that everyone comes to - I could sure use a person who knows more about this stuff over there.

Interested?

Eileen :)

Hi Eileen
I used one of the free sitemap generators, http://gsitecrawler.com/

there's other free ones too, takes just minutes & then drag the xml file over to your server, some of these free sites also can ftp it for you but that involves you typing in your username & password but I wasn't keen on that idea!:
I might take a look at the Yahoo group, I'm in a couple already, one for Gustav becker clocks & one for Holbrook lathes:

Hi Vic,

If it is possible to send you a private message in this group - I will go do that.

Good to know you have a yahoo profile already. Our yahoo group is for seo and computer geeks - I keep trying to get chit chat going but we only have 12 members as of now. lol.

I'd love to have someone who interjects new stuff as I seem to be the only one doing it most of the time...

Eileen :)
