user password error when trying to connect to remote host

Good Evening,

First time on.. hope someone can help me out:)

I'm in the process of trying to get my webpage published. Have the document alb, etc...
I'm on the step (connect to remote host).
I have listed my profile (ok) bellsouth
my host address (hostmonster IP #), by the way great hosts!
my user identifier is my main webpage at hostmonster..

here's the problem:

when I put in my user password for my hostmonster acct and I go to the next step, it says user password error. Now, I have re-entered several times just double-checking and it still comes up wrong??

I would call host monster but I believe it's a problem at the webeasy end.
It's unfortunate, I'm stuck on this step and can't upload my website to my host!

I do hope someone can help me out. Please.....:)

Hi drdiana,

It has been years but I had the same problem. It seems to me that the problem might have been with one of the other entries instead of the password.

I use sbcglobal as my isp but in wep I put "earthlink" and that works better.
Also, I use the dns name server instead of the IP and that works better too.
Um, wow - it HAS been a long time. lol.

I do know also that many times it was the host connection and not Wep that was the problem. I have not had this problem for so many years, but do remember how frustrating it was.

You have to be sure you have typed in the FTP address for your host which is different to the normal address as ftp precedes it.
I don't know yours but it may be ftp.hostmonster.com or whatever.

It will say password error regardless of whether you typed something else incorrect
My login is not my complete web address just 'vicnewey ' & my password

Thanks for responding, I'm going to try re-entering then I'll call Hostmonster if it fails again.. Thanks again.

FYI-
I'm sure other folks may run into password user error also.. My username is different than my regular name, less characters.
