I am totally new to forums of any kind and finding my way around this site is going to be a real learning experience. I don't know the rules and protocol for forum usage, so bear with me.

I'm using webeasy6. My website displays correctly only when viewed at medium text size. Otherwise, text boxes and other objects overlap other text and the whole layout is a disaster. Some of the text doesn't change size no matter what setting I view it at. How do I get the pages to adjust like other websites when viewing at different text sizes?

The easiest answer is to just increase the size of the text boxes which will allow users to increase the size without the potential for overlapping. Of course on some sites this is not possible but do consider increasing the page size, text box size, and adding additional spacing. This will help to accommodate those users who need the larger fonts for readability reasons.

Thanks for the tip on simply enlarging the text boxes. I've tried that along with using more spacing. This seems to give limited and mixed results--especially when I want a drawing object (such as a larger shaded rectangle behind the text to offset it from the other screen objects.

Also, I'm puzzled why some of my text (and text boxes) stay at medium size no matter what browser text seting I change to. Have I somehow locked that particular text box from growing or shrinking?

Thanks

The resizing only effects fonts so images would not grow, as they may distort. You can check to make sure you are building as HTML w/CSS so that overlapping text and images to not convert to a graphic. In fact, HTML w/CSS is a good way to build most sites.

I am having this same problem--- it is really frustrating to have everything formatted just right, then upload it and have everything look a mess. What happened to "what you see is what you get"? I hope someone can answer this question because the pages look a mess if viewed with different settings.

This is one of my pages that have this resizing problem. If you use the Control+scroll (hold down control while using your mouse scroll button) this will change the size of the text in the top right paragraph and the paragraph at the bottom of the page, but none of the others paragraphs. I used rich text boxes and uploaded as dynamic html, since uploading with css makes all my pages screwed up.

This happens on several of my other pages too.

here is a related question. I noticed there are 2 ways to change text size: one is to click once on a text box to select it-- but no text is highlighted-- then select the "font" box at the top of webeasy, then select the options desired. the other way is to actually highlight text within a text box, then change as desired the highlighted text. Sometimes making changes in one of these ways does not work, whereas the other will work. Hope that makes sense.

Perhaps it is the difference in these choices that is causing my problem.

would love some help with this. thanks.

For some reason plain text is not affected by user text size settings. Rich text is affected.

Theoretically we should be able to set the document or page settings in the inspector, document> properties > measurement > set to 'absolute pixels' .

According to the reading I've been doing pixel measurements will not change based on user text size settings. So far in my testing this has not held true with Web Easy's 'absolute pixels'.

Has anyone had different results with the measurement settings?

using WebEasy ver 7

I looked at your site using IE7 and everything looks fine. As a matter of fact it's a really nice looking, well organized site. If I ctrl scroll it just changes the zoom in out of the whole page but everything looks as it should ??? don't know what you're seeing.

Thanks for your nice comments. Well im using AOL browser, which I thought was a version of IE. I wonder why this happens to me but not on other computers. I guess I should be glad :-)

thanks again for your input. if anyone else has an idea about this, let me know.

I set text size to 'largest' and viewed your site (it is nice!). I am seeing the problem you describe, it is the same thing I'm seeing on my sites.

I'm Using IE ver 7 Windows VISTA home version.
