View Full Version : Problem Connecting to AOL
I used to be able to connect to AOL when I launched AOL. That stopped. I want to connect to AOL. I can connect to the internet with IE, that iss not the problem. Again, I used to be able to connect directly to AOL, now I cannot.
I have two computers and neither can connect to AOL.
One computer has never been updated and operates using the phone tools disk from Motorola 3 years ago. HP Pavilion Laptop, DV4000, XP-SP2, Intel P4 & lots of memory and hardrive
The second computer has been updated tot he latest version of phone tools just today. Compaq Presario V6000, XP-SP2, Intel, P4, lots f memory and harddrive.
The phone is a Motorola V551, with a USB cord connecting to the computer.

PhoneTools does not affect your ability to connect to AOL. Please contact AOL for support.
I am sorry for the delay in responding. BVRP has changed their response asking for more information to telling me to contact AOL. Well I was doing that and reinstalling AOL during this time. Now, I still cannot connect to AOL.
Regarding the more information BVRP originally wanted, you must understand that AOL has its own launching system. When the program launches, it searches for the bestt internet connection and connect through that method. If the computer is hooked up to a dialup, AOL can detect it, if you ar hooked up to wireless, AOL can find it. When I am hooked up to mobile phone tools, AOL use to find it, but cannot anymore.
I have reinstalled AOL just to be sure all is well with the program.
The response from the computer is that when launched the program searches for a connection and indicate "Connecting using TCP\IP"
After a period of time, the connetion attempt times out and responds with :THe attempt to the AOL service timed out"
AOL has an auto detect program that cannot locate the connection.
Please do not tell me to call AOL. I hate that when somebody does not step up to the plate and try to help but only says it is not their problem.
Please get some aol software yourself and install it and see if you get this problem. Like I said, I used to be able to connect to AOL through mobile phone tools. I do not wnat to connedt to AOL through the internet. I want to connect directly to AOL thorugh the AOL software through mobile phone tools. Remember, that I have reinstalled AOL already. And when I am using my office wireless, I can connect to AOL. The only internet connection method that does not allow me to connect to AOL directly is BVRP.
Thank you
