pls help

i purchased a lexmark x1270 printer and with it i installed bvrp fax tools software now when i try to fax it says no dial tone. pls help.
iam using laptop with windows xp and sp2. and having adsl connection having a router but my laptop is connected with cable. and modem is 8599 ac 97 modem_agere. these r the details and pls give me some solution...... waiting for reply at

1. Check the phone line in the back of the computer to see that the phone line from the wall is plugged into the side of the modem that has the picture of the wall jack not the one with the phone on it.
2. Next check to see that the phone line is firmly plugged into the wall and if it is, make sure that it does not run through any splitters or surge protectors.
3. From PhoneTools, click Setup/Configure, then General Configuration/Setup. Click on the Localization or Location tab. Make sure it is set to Use PhoneTools Dialing Properties. Put a check in Ignore Dialtone. Put a check in Use Prefix, and type ,, (two commas) in the Outgoing Prefix and click OK.
4. See if you are able to connect to the internet if you have it. This way we can determine if other programs are getting No Dial Tone errors.
