View Full Version : Can't get fax to work
:x I am running Faxtools with Conexant SoftK56 Modem (M) on Windows XP. I received the software with an All-In-One Lexmark X1240 (that is what is on the All-In-One) but the users guide says 1200 Series. I have been trying to send a fax, the little fax tools come up, I get everything ready to go, it lets me view what I am trying to send and everything. When I click on send it does nothing, I hear no dial tone and it doesn't tell me if the fax was successful or not. It stays in my outbox. I am about at my wits end trying to figure this out. Please help. My email addy is missq32@gmail.com
Any help would be appreciated.
I thought I could maybe find someone who could help me on here about my machine, guess I was wrong.

1- What is your modem name ?
From Windows, click Start, Settings, Control Panel., Double-click Modems.
2- What is your modem name in Faxtools ?
From FaxTools, click 'Configure' at the bottom left, then click 'General Configuration'. Then you will want to click on the 'Communication' tab
3- Do you have high speed or dail up for Intrenet connection ?
Everything I look up just says Conexant SoftK56 Modem (M). I have dial-up.

We need to determine if your modem is reporting calling out correctly:
1. From Windows, click Start, Run, then type in hypertrm and click OK.
2. A Connection Description screen should pop up asking for a name for the connection. Type in Test, then click OK.
3. A screen should appear asking for a phone number. Click the Cancel button.
4. You should be at a blank HyperTerminal screen, with a blinking cursor. Type in ATE1 (may not show up as you type it) and hit enter. It should respond with OK.*
5. Then type in ATDT and the phone number you are trying to call to here.
What happens?

When I type in ATE1 and hit enter, nothing happens. In the very bottom, left hand corner of the screen though, it says "disconnected". Does that help you any?

If nothing happens the modem is not responding. I would first reinstall the modem drivers.

Everything says my modem is working fine. Do I need to uninstall my Lexmark All-In-One or do I leave it?
