View Full Version : Firewall warning on Windows 2000

I have recently begun using BVRP Connection Manager Lite, and I am very happy with it. There is just one irritation, however: soon after the application has loaded, I receive the following alert balloon from the icon in the system tray.

"Attention! Your computer might be at risk. No firewall protection has been detected."

I am running the application on Windows 2000 SP4, and I have seen your FAQ question "I cannot manage my Firewall on Windows 2000" (http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=9010&sid=bf4356a9c1bf822bd05ac7f6aaeac1fa). You state in your response that Connection Manager works with the Security Center of Windows XP, a feature which is not available in Windows 2000.

This is fair enough... but please can you provide a way of turning off the alert balloon?! I don't really want to see it every time, not least because I /do/ have an active firewall (ZoneAlarm) on my system!

I would also be happier if, when the application is configured to run minimized in the system tray, all status messages would be suppressed until the icon was clicked. They are somewhat intrusive!

(I am not sure which version of Connection Manager Lite I'm using... the application doesn't seem to provide the usual "Help -> About" information that is standard for Windows applications.)

Best wishes,
Anton

Currently there is not a way to disable the notifications in the program. This will change in the next release of Connection Manager software.
