I'm having transmission problems whenever I try to send a fax. The fax begins at 14400bps and after several minutes goes to 2400bps! That's almost 10 mins just to send one page. During one transmission, it stopped at 9600bps and didn't even go through because I got a message: "Hangup before transmission"...

I have a Lexmark X75 All-In-One printer from which I installed the BVRP software Fax Tools 5.03. I'm using Windows XP (SP2) and the modem I use is the Telepath Internet 56K Winmodem. The strange thing about the modem's features is that in the Device Manager it tells me it's manufactured by Gateway yet when I check its features via Fax Tools, it tells me it's manufactured by Askey and is a TAPI modem.

I've tried updating drivers, removing and reinstalling the software but to no avail.

Could you please provide assistance regarding this troublesome matter? Thank you...

Set the program to a generic modem driver.

From the faxtools go to
configure
general setup
communication tab
change modem
select your modem and go to next
check do not automatically detect the modem will select from a list
next
select Standard fax for the manufacture
select fax class 1 11400 data 33000 for the model
next
finish
once your back to the communication tab check exclusive use
yes on the warning
ok

Try sending the fax again.
