Typically this is a result of our software being unable to initialize your modem. To see if your modem is working correctly:
1. Go to Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Modems tab, highlight your modem and click the properties button.
2. Click on the Diagnostics tab and click the Query modem button.
A normal response will display some information under the Command and Response section. An abnormal response will result in a popup error message. If a popup error message does occur. Try reinstalling your modem:
In Windows XP/2000:
Click Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Modems tab. Highlight your modem, click the Remove button and reboot. Upon restart your modem will automatically reinstall itself.
In Windows 98/Me:
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Modems. Highlight your modem, click the Remove button and reboot. Upon restart your modem will automatically reinstall itself.
If you are still getting errors at this point, please contact your modem vendor for further assistance in correcting your modem issues.
