I have BVRP 5.08 version of FaxTools, I run Windows XP Professional 2002 Service Pack 2 and the modem is Conexant D850 56K V.9x DFVC.
I can receive faxed ok but when I try to send faxes the number is called then the computer shutsdown and restarts. I have tried using other fax numbers to make sure it not the fax number.

We need to determine if your modem is reporting calling out correctly:
1. From Windows, click Start, Run, then type in hypertrm and click OK.
2. A Connection Description screen should pop up asking for a name for the connection. Type in Test, then click OK.
3. A screen should appear asking for a phone number. Click the Cancel button.
4. You should be at a blank HyperTerminal screen, with a blinking cursor. Type in ATE1 (may not show up as you type it) and hit enter. It should respond with OK.*
5. Then type in ATDT and the phone number you are trying to call to here.
What happens?

1. With all programs closed go to Start
2. Go to Control Panel
3. Go to Phone and Modem options (it might be under Printers and Other Hardware)
4. Go to the modem tab
5. Remove all modems listed there
6. Close everything and restart your computer (when windows comes back up it should reinstall the modem)
7. Once the modem is reinstalled Open Classic Phonetools
8. Go to configure in the bottom left
9. Go to General Setup or General Configuration
10. Go to the Communication Tab
11. Click on Change modem
12. Go through to Configuration wizard to reidentify the modem.

Yes I have done this and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the fax tool and it still shutdowns my computer.
What's happening ... it was working!

Try installing it on another computer. If it was a problem with the program the issue would of been fixed when reinstalled.
