I have switched my modem from one PC to another. I'd like to move Classic PhoneTools as well. But this will mean filling in the registration number, and the "pone home" computer will tell me that it is already registered.

Unlike Adobe and Nuance, BVRP does not seem to operate an "deregister on this PC" feature.

Of course, now that the modem is not connected, Classic PhoneTools won't even start.

Knowing how dodgy the Classic PhoneTools registration system can be, I don't want to do anything that would require me to get yet another registration number. So, advice please.

I assume that I will have to move the modem back to the other PC. find a way to unregister, then reinstall.

You can move the modem and software to a new machine, when you reinstall the software it will have you reregister the program.
With classic phone tools 6.04 that program will allow you to install about 4 times with the same seral number and you wont have problems.

Have you already changed the modem and software?
If so is the program giveing you any error messages?

Thanks. I have moved the modem, but have not transferred the software from the other PC. I am currently using the less powerful and older version of PhoneTools that came bundled with the modem.

Past experience tells me that PhoneTools is even pickier than Windows in rejecting any slight system changes. Hence my question.

(Repeated so that it comes from me, the software does not allow me to delete it.)
