When I open the application, it goes directly to a screen that shows the recipients lists and the various mail boxes. It no longer takes me to the control center where I can send faxes, hang up and monitor the progress of a fax, incoming or outgoing. When a transmission fails, I do not know how many pages were sent.

1. What version of our software are you using? Phone Tools Expert Version 4.12

2. What modem/phone are you using? What modem are you using?
Motorla SM56 Speakerphone Modem

3. What operating system are you using? Windows 2000 SP4,

4. Details of the issue including any error messages, When I open the program I go directly to a screen with my lists of mail boxes and recipients. I do not get the screen that allows me to hang up and view the progress of a transmission. When a transmission fails it does not tell me how many pages got through. I tried sending a 25 page fax several times yesterday, filling the memory of the receiving fax machine, because I did not know how many pages got through.

5. Scenarios under which the issue occurs: I used to get the screen. I have not been faxing for months and now I do not get that progress screen.

6. How did you receive the software? I bought the software directly from you.

There is not a button for it on the Task bar at the bottom of the screen?

I do not have the software start up with the computer. I now only use the software for sending and receiving faxes. I normally get only about 5-6 non-junkmail faxes a year. Most documents come to me as pdfs. I therefore only open Phone Tools exPert during the rare times that someone cannot send me, or receive a pdf. Therefore the icon of PTeP does not reside in the system tray.

When I open the application, it goes directly to a page with the in-box and out box and failed transmissions and the list of my recipients. It does not take me to what once seemed like a control panel where the bottom buttons read configure, send fax, hang up, fax inbox and fax outbox. The page does not contain the panes for the thumbnail of the fax in progress and the transmission information. I used to rely on that page, but now I cannot find it. Where should I look? Or does the version no longer have it? If so, where do I get the transmission information and view the progress of the fax?

You lost me there. What you described is the Phonetools Expert Window. It has not changed in 4 years. Did you used to have Classic Phonetools?

With Expert, when you send or receive a fax a seperate window will open up. It might show up behind the main window, but on the Task bar (not in the systray) will be a button for it like any other program, that you can click on to bring that window to the front.

I did have the classic version. It had a great image for monitoring progress of transmissions. The help file with my Phone Tools Expert shows the same image. I do not have that image. When I am sending or recieving. I have not get a separate window. I do not get a button in the system tray. I do not get a report of how many pages successfully were transmitted when the transmission is interrrupted. I sent 24 pages of a 25 page fax several times.

None of our program have a report like that.

Do you hear the computer faxing? Is the Phonetools Expert open? How are you sending a fax?
