View Full Version : Transmission Timeout

I am running FaxTools version 5.03 that came with a Lexmark X74/75 Print Trio. I can receive faxes but whenever I try to send, the communication tones between the two faxes either continues nonstop and nothing ever gets sent, or the communication tone starts and then abruptly stops and hangs up and I get the "Transmission Timeout" error.

I am running a P4 2.8GHz system with 768MB RAM and Windows XP Professional SP2. My modem is a PCTEL Platinum v.92. I've already tried everything in the FAQ forum so far, and nothing has worked (uninstalling the modem, etc.) This is a recent development, as the software and hardware have worked perfectly in the past. Is it possible that certain fuctions of a modem could stop working while other parts of the modem continue to function? It's very baffling how I can receive faxes but not send them. Please help.

Try this:

1. In Faxtools Go to the General Setup (or push F6 on your keyboard)
2. Go to the Communication Tab
3. Click on Change Modem
4. Click Next
5. Make sure the PCtel Modem is Highlighted and click next
6. Check the box for Do not Automatically detect and click next
7. On the left side choose Standard Fax/Data drivers, and the right side choose the Pctel Data/fax and click next
8. Click finish
9. Click OK out of the General Setup
