v3 not connecting

hi

my v3 rarely if ever connects to the pc via the usb cable. software simply says "no phone" or something to that effect. its not firewall because i've dealt with that. any ideas please.

What program are we talking about? The Ringtone media studio will not work directly through a USB cable.
