can't get lexmark x5150 fax to work

I am having difficulty getting my x5150 fax service to work. I have the BVRP software. I also have high-speed internet through a cable modem. Unsure what I need to do to get going. I have spent hours and I just called my telephone company and got a fax number. I was going to purchase a separate fax machine until I realized I should try to make this work first. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The version of our software that you currently use does not support faxing directly with your DSL modem, however if you still have an analog modem installed in your PC, you should still be able to get it to work fine. Typically you will need to have a filter plugged into the analog modem and we do have a document on our website outlining how it needs to be hooked up so please take a look if you are running into any problems since getting DSL: www.bvrpusa.com/download/documentation/DSL_Setup.pdf
