I am using Classic Phone Tools OEM bundled with TRENDNet TFM-560X modem (external serial data fax voice modem) under Windows XP SP2. Under Windows the modem appears as "Agere OCM Serial Modem".The problem is:

Outgoing announcement recorded through my sound card souns OK when played back (also through the sound card).
Same announcement sounds like a fast playback (high pitch) when calling in to the answering machine.
Messages left on the answering machine sound like a very slow playback (low pitch).

These are not critical, but very annoying problems. Is there a way to compensate the distortion? I tried to increase the sampling rate, but no improvement resulted.

Thank you

This is a continuation of the same topic:
In an attempt to resolve my problem described in the previous post, I downloaded and installed current trial version of the Classic PhoneTools from BVRP site (6.02 I think). Instead of the too slow or too fast playback described above, I get terrible noise on the phone for announcement, and from my speaker when playing back messages. Is it possible to use full (not bundled) version with external serial modem at all? Did anyone have better luck?

Thanks

Igorella

What was the version that came with the modem originally?

I do not show that we have any drivers for Trendnet modems, I do not know that we will be able to get the voice functions to operate.

I bought TRENDNet TFM-560X from Tiger direct. It came with installation CD Version 1.67 containing drivers and communication software Classic Phonetools 4.01. This is the version that I am presently trying to make work. From your reply I gether that drivers are written by Trendnet, and so any attempts to upgrade to a current version of CPT are not going to solve my problem?

Thanks

Correct, none of our programs are going to work any better with the Voice functions of that modem.
