How do I make my fax work ?

I have a Lexmark X74-X75 All-in-one and faxtools came with it. I have a Dell computer and Verizon DSL. I don't have directions to make it work. I tried sending a fax and it didn't go through. What did I do wrong? HELP!! Do I need a separate fax number to receive faxes :?

The version of our software that you currently use does not support faxing directly with your DSL modem, however if you still have an analog modem installed in your PC, you should still be able to get it to work fine. Typically you will need to have a filter plugged into the analog modem and we do have a document on our website outlining how it needs to be hooked up so please take a look if you are running into any problems since getting DSL: www.bvrpusa.com/download/documentation/DSL_Setup.pdf

Thank you for your very informative e-mail. I followed the diagram and I purchased the 3 part splitter and now everything is working beautifully. I am thrilled with my ability to receive and send faxes. You guys rock!! :D
