View Full Version : Cannot Match Speed

1. Software Version 2.17e
2. Modem: US Robotics 56K Fax Win
3. Operating System Windows Xp SP2
4. Software received bundled with US Robotics Modem
5. Issue: This does not happen all the time but occasionally when I send a fax I get a "Can't match speed" error. I can see in the phone tool window that the speed keeps dropping and the tones are changing but no connection is made. I am set to ZMODEM and had change this to XY etc with no affect. I had this problem one day and the next day it connected.
I'm not adverse to a software upgrade but this product has been so stable and reliable that I hate to make a change.

After thying to reach all day and getting ther "can't match speed" error, the connection was finally successful at 1400 bps. Is this something associated with the fax machine I am sending to? Will Phonetools 6 fix this situation?

That issue could be caused by the receiving machine or noise on the line. If that version came with the modem and not a Dell computer, then it is not XP compatible (the Dell 2.17e is XP compatible), and that could also cause the issue.
