Tried every setting in the control panel and Printer panel to lower the volume when Dialing a FAX, but, Every time I start to FAX the volume increases to Full Volume no matter what it is set for. Very annoying, like putting a stereo to your ear and full blasting it.
Is there a setting somplace I missed? Or is this not controlable?
Using OEM Phone tools that came with my Dell, Windows XP SP1

Is it coming out of the Speakers or the computer itself? If its the Speakers can you lower the Volume control on them?
Do you have a Modem or PC speaker colume control in the Volume Control panel? If you do, have you lowered that one?
What version of Phonetools do you have?
Comes out of the speakers, and Yes, after it Blasts my eardrums I can lower the Volume and it stays put as long as I don't shut down Phone Tools. Every time it starts up it blasts at Full Volume again.
Built in Data/Fax Speakerphone Modem - PCI Soft V92
With the latest Drivers available for it installed.

1. Go to Start, and then Search
2. Choose all files and folders
3. Type in REMETTAP.EXE for the name
4. Make sure it's looking in the C: drive then click Search
5. After it finds that file, right click on the name REMETTAP.EXE and then left click on Delete
6. Start a new and type in SETMIXER.INI
7. Then click search
8. Once you find that file, right click on it and then left click Delete
9. Close out of the find window and open PhoneTools
Now Phonetools should not adjust the volume when you open it.
Thanks. :) :D
Thanks for all you help and patience.
That worked like a charm.
