This is everything I found when I clicked on about phone tools on the menu tab.
Multimedia software 4.21 version
Microsoft xp 5.01.2600 sp2, 512mb ram, us robotics 5699b 56K win AD 1/1 modem management enabled.
My problem is that when I choose any skin, on that skin, my only choices are fax and terminal. I would like to be able to use the phone and voice mail capabilities however they do not appear as a choice . have I done something wrong

The Voice options are dependant on the modem, and the modem you currently have is only a data/fax modem. It will not give you the voice options.

i am running windows xp sp2 and would like to utilize the fax and voicemail components of your classic phonetools version 4.21 that actuallly came with my US robotics modem. the problem is that the modem isn't even compatible cause it has no voice capabilities.
Do you know if the multitech V.90 Model 5634 MultiModem ZPX works well with your phonetools software?
Is it compatible with windows xp?
Is the version of phonetools i have the latest, best for voice mail and fax?
i was running symantecs talkworks pro with winfax for years trouble free then upgraded my OS from windows 98 to xp and have tried for years to get faxing and answer machine capabilities back.
Please tell me i've found the answer with your software
thanks

The Multitech modem will not work with the US Robotics Version of Phonetools, but it should have its own version that will work with it.
Are you asking if the Multitech modem is XP compatible? Is so then you will need to contact Multitech, that I do not know.

Well I’ve gotten rid of the us robotics modem , picked up a multitech mt5634zpx-pci
And after viewing the free software that came with my modem I decided to purchase the classic phonetools can’t find the version number but just downloaded it this evening
When I started phonetools the device confirmation wizard dropdown started then
In the device configuration wizard box
During initial device detection when the wizard is trying to automatically identify the device
*modem identification
*opening multiTechMT5634ZPX-PCI
)0( Not accessible or in use by another application
However no other application is running
When I go to control panel , phone and modem options then click on modems multi tech shows up
Clicking on properties lets me know the modem is working properly the driver version is 5.11.1.5
When I call my phone number from another the modem ring will happen but phonetools will not answer
All buttons appear phone. Fax, voicemail, email
On the info box at the top it states answer machine active, no device connected
In general setup I’ve clicked on exclusive use right under where it lists the name of my modem, so it’s gotta recognize it
What else can I do to get it working. thanks so much for your help

You will need to have a Mic in order to record a personal greeting.
