When someone calls the answering machine and leaves a message, the telephone will not disconnect automatically at the end of the message. There is probably a simple fix to this problem, but I can't find it. Please advise.

To assist in answering your question in a timely manner, it is helpful to post the following information when you ask a question:
1. What version of our software are you using? This can typically be found by clicking Menu(s), Help, About <Product Name>.
2. What modem/phone are you using? What modem are you using?
- In Windows XP/2000: This can be found by clicking Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Modems tab. Your modem name will be listed here.
- In Windows 98/Me: This can be found by clicking Start, Settings, Control Panel, Modems. Your modem name will be listed here.
3. What operating system are you using? E.g., Windows XP SP1, Windows 98 SE. This can normally be found by right-clicking 'My Computer' and left-clicking properties and it will be listed under the System section on the General tab.
4. Details of the issue including any error messages, e.g, "When I try to install it keeps stating 'Please insert disk 1'."
5. Scenarios under which the issue occurs, e.g., "I can normally send faxes, but cannot to the 310 area code."
6. How did you receive the software? E.g., received with a Dell A920 printer, received with a Dell Dimension 8400, received with a US Robotics Fax Win INT modem, purchased at www.bvrpusa.com, purchased a box at Fry's, etc...
7. Your e-mail address is also helpful should we need to send you a file or download link.

you might try updating to the 6.04 version ot see if that helps first. Live update is under Menus and then Setup in Classic Phonetools.
If that doesn't help try this:
1. With all programs closed go to Start
2. Go to Control Panel
3. Go to Phone and Modem options (it might be under Printers and Other Hardware)
4. Go to the modem tab
5. Remove all modems listed there
6. Close everything and restart your computer (when windows comes back up it should reinstall the modem)
7. Once the modem is reinstalled Open Classic Phonetools
8. Go to configure in the bottom left
9. Go to General Setup or General Configuration
10. Go to the Communication Tab
11. Click on Change modem
12. Go through to Configuration wizard to reidentify the modem.

I ran the live update and it said the product is up to date. I will try the other to see if that works. Thanks.

The phone hangs up after about a minute.

I have sent you Phonetools drivers to see if those help.

Thank you for sending the drivers. I installed them, but it still takes awhile for the phone to disconnect. I have the answering set up to leave a maximum of a 2 minute message, my thought is maybe the phone will stay connected for the full 2 minutes (although I didn't check to see how long before it disconnected).
The drivers did fix the problem of garbled messages, although not perfect, you can understand the message. (This problem was addressed in a previous post).

The disconnecting issue is an issue with the modem then. We are waiting for the modem to report silence and it is taking it awhile to do that. Other than reinstalling the modem driver there is nothing else we can try. You might try contacting the Modem manufacturer to see if they have any suggestions.

you might try updating to the 6.04 version ot see if that helps first. Live update is under Menus and then Setup in Classic Phonetools.According to your product website here: http://www.bvrp.com/eng/products/phonetools/configuration.asp the latest is STILL 6.03. There was a 6.04 live update avail for a while but I found problems with it, which I promptly reported and it looks like its been pulled. Can you please confirm the status of a 6.04 Live update (or even a 6.04 full version) as this has been a very long time in the works. There were originally mentions of a planned release around the middle of last year... My 6.03 version also claims there are no updates under live update.
Looking forward to your update (on the situation as well as for the software).

I am looking into that.

6.04 is the current version. I know that the update originally was saying 6.03 still even though it was 6.04. If yours is saying you are up to date, then you are on the 6.04.

6.04 is the current version.Your website here: http://www.bvrp.com/eng/products/phonetools/configuration.asp still shows the latest version as 6.03 - will you please get this fixed. Additionally no updates past 6.03 would even download, other than the one time the 6.04 EU download came through - but thats not working now.... Is it possible to download the full version of 6.04 that actually shows up as 6.04 please?

It actually appears to be that the version was miss numbered so even an exe would have the 6.03 version.

It actually appears to be that the version was miss numbered so even an exe would have the 6.03 version. The one time that the update did work for me it stated in the live update section that it was (correctly) updating to the 6.04 EU update (even though as you say the finished result program still ended up showing as 6.03). Even though it's misnumbered (a BIG mistake to make with a software package), the website should still correctly reflect the actual version thats out there (which differs to the original 6.03 version). Better still, why dont the programmers just spend 5 minutes (well alright 10 mins max) to put in place a simple fix for this glaring mistake? I'd do it myself and send you the fixed product if I had the source code and tools!
