I recently updated my Classic Phone Tools to work with Windows XP (thanks alot for your help!), but now it doesn't want to recognize my Dell Data Fax Modem. It lists "No Device Connected" on the main Phone Tools screen, and when I go to Configure -> Change Modem it takes me to the Device Configuration Wizard. When I select my modem, it then searches for the driver: the Wizard decides that the "device has been detected but could not be identified."
If, on the other hand, I select the driver from the list, the appropriate driver being for the "Motorola Dell V.90 56k Modem," the program passes rapidly from "communication not active" to "Recieve mode is Fax," to "No device connected." Apparently it briefly recognizes the modem, then decides not to after all.
I cannot find a newer driver for my modem, and the modem responds to queries through the Device Manager panel.
I am running Classic Phone Tools 4.23 on a Dell XPS T500 at 800 Mhz with 768 Mb RAM, using Windows XP (5.01.2600) Service Pack 2. The information page acknowledges that I have a Dell V.90 56k Modem (1/1), but says "Modem does not respond."
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
