Just installed the software. won't receive faxes. Software idenfies that a fax is coming in and then hangs.

when a voice message is received takes message and then won't disconnect from the line. In addition, the message is garbled.

modem is intel(r) 537EP V9x DFV PCI on com3
your software idenfies modem as an Amigo modem.

software is Windows XP Service Pack 2.

What version of Classic Phonetools do you have?

I am having the same problem as above using the same exact modem. My faxes do come through okay. The telephone disconnects after about a minute or so, but the messages are garbled. I have Windows XP service pack 2. I am using Phone Tools 6.03. I was in touch with Dell and they sent me the link to update the modem, but that didn't help. Please advise.

I am sending you Phonetools drivers to see if those helps.

I downloaded the Phonetools drivers and that seemed to help as far as the garbled messages go. They are still not perfect but much, much better than before - you can at least understand the message. The only problem now is that the phone won't disconnect for at least a minute or more (I didn't time it to see exactly how long it takes).

Thanks for sending the drivers.

You might try this for the disconnecting problem:

In Windows XP/2000:
Click Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Modems tab. Highlight your modem, click the Remove button and reboot. Upon restart your modem will automatically reinstall itself.

In Windows 98/Me:
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Modems. Highlight your modem, click the Remove button and reboot. Upon restart your modem will automatically reinstall itself.
