Phonetools 4.21 will not activate independent mode on my windows mediacenter 2005 PC. When turning phone tools off a dropdown box appears saying "Activating Independent mode. Please wait". This hangs around for a while then dissappears but the MEM light does not come on and the modem will not answer calls? On a normal XP SP2 (not MCE 2005) it works great. What can I do? I have tried Phonetools Classic 6, but here I have the same problem. Thx for help.

Is the media center PC still an XP os? If not then we will not work properly on it.

You might want to contact US Robotics to see if there are updated Drivcers or firmware for the modem then, as it sounds like Classic Phonetools is doing what it is supposed to do.

US Robotics don`t have any new driver. The Modem works good with the orginal Windows MCE drivers. The only problem is that I can`t start the Independent mode with Phone Tools.

1. After reproducing the issue in your BVRP software application you will want to get the log.

2. From your BVRP software application, click Menus, then click Display/View, then click Modem Exchange. (Pressing the F12 key while in the program will also bring up the modem exchange)

3. Click on File, then click on Save Buffer As.

4. In the top Save In window - select either Desktop or My Documents (to make it easier to find it later)

5. In the Save As window - type in your last name and click on Save

6. Your Modem Log is now saved.

7. E-mail that log to forums@bvrpusa.com, include the link for this thread for reference.
